Day 6 - Advance - In Obedience
If we want to see God’s supernatural blessing, provision and guidance in our lives and minsitry, we MUST learn to OBEY Him. In Joshua we read how God had delivered Israel from bondage in Egypt and they were on their way to possess the land that God had promised them. In Joshua 3 they were ready to cross the Jordan River and begin possessing their inheritance.
The instructions Joshua’s officers gave the children of Israel were, “When you see the ark of the covenant… and the Levite priests carrying it, then you shall set out from where you are and go behind it.” Here are some lessons for us if we want to ADVANCE in our walk with God.
First, Israel was instructed to watch for the ark which was a symbol of God’s presence. “When you see the ark…” The ark would pass by and they would need to be looking for it so they could see what direction to go! God is at work in our world today and He wants each one of us to have our eyes open, looking to SEE when and where He is moving! We are so easily distracted with our problems, survival, work, health, and life in general that we often don’t really SEE what God is doing! Are you intentionally looking to see what God is doing? Have you prepared your heart to recognize His hand at work?
Secondly, Israel was told that when they saw the ark, “…then you shall set out from where you are and go behind it.” SET OUT FROM WHERE YOU ARE! MOVE, GO, ADVANCE! God has promised to lead our lives but we must be willing to MOVE when He calls us to move. What is God calling you to do? Are you willing to leave your comfort zone and simply obey? Israel followed the Ark, crossed the Jordan River on dry land and moved forward to possess the Promised Land!
Questions for Consideration:
Are you keeping your spiritual eyes open, looking for the manifest presence of God as it moves near you?
When you see God moving or hear His call are you willing to take a step of faith and obey so you can ADVANCE and possess your “promised land?”
